FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We have put together a list of answers to some frequently asked questions along with some top tips for choosing and ordering your wedding stationery. If your question isn't covered below please email me and I will do my best to help.

Is it possible to order a sample?
We are more than happy to provide samples of the wedding invitations. All samples costs will be deducted from your order invoice. Please email to arrange for your sample to be posted out.

When should I order my wedding invitations?
We recommend you order your wedding invitations three months before the wedding. This gives you plenty of time to receive the invitations, write the envelopes and pop them in the post so your guests receive their invite eight weeks before your wedding day.

Always order a few extra invitations in case of mistakes and so you have one to keep for yourselves
When should I order my reception items?
We recommend you order your reception items a six weeks before your wedding day or as soon as you have all the relevant information.

Why not order your thank you cards with the rest of your reception items, so they are ready to send out on your return from honeymoon
When should I send out my invites?
We recommend your wedding invitations are sent out eight weeks before your wedding date. However if you are getting married abroad or during a holiday period we recommend you send them out three months before the big day.

Why not include a self addressed RSVP postcard with your invites. This ensures you receive your replies and makes it easy to request information such as dietary requirements and favourite song choices
How long will my stationery take?
You will be sent an acknowledgement that we have received your order immediately. A digital proof will be sent to you within 5 working days from receipt of your completed booking form and payment. The wedding stationery will then be sent out within three weeks of receiving your signed off proof.

Please note that bespoke or colour change services may take slightly longer; timescales will be agreed during our initial consultation.

If you require your stationery urgently or by a specific date please just let us know. We will try as hard as we can to meet your deadline.


Leave yourself plenty of time to check your proofs and it may be helpful to the order of service details with the vicar and check the menu with the caterers before we go to print.
Can you help me with wording, etiquette and timings?
We have a wealth of experience of weddings and are more than happy to offer advice on wedding etiquette timings and wordings as well as the latest wedding trends and colour schemes. So please email me () with any questions.

When and how do I send through my wording?
All wording for your stationery can be completed during our online booking process or sent to us directly in an email. Please see our wording page for example and tips. Please note that the wording for the order of service, menus, table plan and place card names will need to be emailed through as a separate attachment to

How and when will I receive my proof?
All digital proofs are sent as a PDF file via email. The proofs are your opportunity to check that everything is correct before we send your stationery to print. If there are any changes simply list them clearly in an email or Word document and email them to us. We will then send you a revised proof for you to check again.

Are there discounts for larger quantities or multiple items?
We are happy to offer discounts for orders which total more than £300. Please contact us and we will send you an invoice with a 10% discount applied.

Is there a minimum order requirement?
There is a minimum order of 25 items on all our stationery with the exception of table numbers, table plans and menus.

Is it possible to change the colour of the stationery so it matches my wedding colour theme?
We are more than happy to change colours on our wedding stationery. We understand the importance of matching your wedding theme and therefore are more than happy to make changes to the colours of our designs. We will just need a sample of the colour you are trying to match.

Why not send us a sample of your bridesmaid dresses and we will create a close ink match.
Can I change the typeface?
We have chosen the type that we feels work with the invitation but it is absolutely fine to change this to one of your choice. Why not try out a few different typefaces on our wedding invitation simulator and pick your favourite. If your favourite type is not available as an option on the wedding simulator just add the type you would like to use in the extra information box on the online order form and we can alter this for you.

We would recommend sticking to a simple text for the majority of the information so it is easy to read and choosing a fancier type for the bride and groom names.
Is it possible to have my guest names typeset on my wedding stationery?
This is possible although each invitation will need to be individually designed and proofed and therefore there will be an additional £1 charge for each invitation.

Typesetting on placecards is possible at an additional 40 pence per placecard.


In each collection there are two different place card options. Why not order half of each design and then put them in alternate order round your tables.
Can I change the card size of the wedding stationery?
We are happy to alter size of wedding stationery to suit your requirements although the prices may then vary from those on the website.

It's a good idea to check first whether we can source a suitably sized envelope for your new size at a reasonable cost.
I can't find exactly what I am looking for, could you design us something special?
We would love to design something personal and specific to your special day so please contact us for a quote for our bespoke service.

We would like colour envelopes, are these included in the price?
Good quality matching envelopes are included in the price of your invites.

When and how do I pay?
Full payment is due when you submit the online booking form. Our site offers a secure payment facility through PayPal.

PayPal is safe and simple way to make online payments.

If you pay online and are unhappy with the proof for any reason we will refund the full amount. However once you have approved the proof our cancellation policy applies.

It is also possible to pay by cheque, please tick this option on the booking form and make cheques payable to "Jennifer Hughes". Please note that we are unable to print your designs until the cheque has cleared.


Postage, Packging and Delivery
All orders are sent using Royal Mail Special Delivery Services. There will be an additional £12 postage and packaging charge added to each order. For more information please visit our delivery information page.

International orders and Language?
We are happy to do orders for clients living outside the UK and are able to produce invites in any language which uses the Roman alphabet. Please note that delivery times and prices will increase for addresses outside the UK so please contact us for a quote.
